Story Leadership Consulting

Story Leadership for organisations navigating change. I work with leaders who can see what needs to shift but can't move toward it. The difference is almost always narrative. I work on the layer underneath the strategy: the inherited assumptions, the unspoken agreements about what's possible, the story everyone performs but no one chose. Studio Hatfield has done this work since 2018.

The deliverable is clarity, edge, and a position you can hold in any meeting after I leave. Not storytelling in the marketing sense. If that's what you're after, this isn't the right fit.

Unlearn – What's in the way becomes the way.
Surface what is actually running the room. Not what people say the problem is, but what the organisation is centred around without realising it. It's the unspoken tension, the narrative gap, the story that everyone performs but no one chooses.
Reimagine – What you imagine, you can lead.
You've learnt to see the story your organization is standing in. Once it's visible, you have options you didn't know existed. This is the hardest phase: letting go of the old story before the new one is clear. Most people try to skip it. The ones who stay in it change everything.
Forge your own path – What you lead, you can change.
Design how others step into the story as co-authors. What formats, structures, and language enable people to carry the narrative without you in the room? Strategy becomes movement. And it's almost impossible to do alone.

What you leave with: one stance you can defend in a hostile room, the story underneath your strategy made visible, and a way for others to carry it without you.

The kind of work this is. Engagements range from a single high-stakes working session to a full repositioning. I've worked with founders and leadership teams in the impact space, in publishing, alternative education and in innovation-led organisations, surfacing the narrative that was quietly steering decisions, and rebuilding the one they actually wanted to lead from. The throughline across fourteen years: I find the story running underneath the strategy, and I make it something you can work with instead of against.

If you're building something defensible in a hostile room, let's talk. Three questions, not seventeen: What are you building? What's the room you can't yet defend it in? When do you want to start? write to me.

The Studio is the work. The Club is the proof.
